Timeline for Adoption #3

November 2011 Realized if there is now a 2-3 year wait for adoptions from Ethiopia, we have to start now! We talked to our adoption agency and they agreed. Here we go!

12 November 2011 Emailed a new (for us) homestudy agency in IA to inquire about starting the process.

16 November 2011 Received phonecall from homestudy agency. They are sending out a packet this week.

18 November 2011 Received application packet from homestudy agency in the mail.
We also mailed in our WACAP application today.

06 February 2012 First social worker visit for homestudy

26 March 2012 Second social worker visit for homestudy

23 August 2012 Homestudy is finished and forwarded onto WACAP for review

15 October 2012 Final copy of homestudy mailed to WACAP today

22 October 2012 Received our "Welcome back for the third time!" initial paperwork from WACAP

29 October 2012 USCIS cashed our check with our I600a application. (Today is the 4 year anniversary of getting our referral for Claire)

01 November 2012 received receipt from USCIS for I600a application

07 November 2012 received notice for biometrics date from USCIS...scheduled for November 16th but we will be out of town for Victoria's brother's wedding so we have to reschedule

19 November 2012 received rescheduled notice for biometrics from USCIS...scheduled for November 29th so we can't make it AGAIN.

21 November 2012 had our "Welcome back" phonecall with Megan from WACAP.

23 November 2012 mailed last of our paperwork and payment #1 to WACAP. As soon as they get it we are on the waitlist.

26 November 2012 OFFICIALLY ON THE WAITLIST!!!! approx 85 families ahead of us (but some requesting siblings, or things like that where we may actually get a referral before some people on the list)

03 December 2012 received 2nd reschedule notice for biometrics from USCIS...scheduled for Friday December 14th at 8am...three hours away from home so we are getting a hotel and staying overnight beforehand!

(that day ended up not working out because Shai had congregant's funeral that weekend. USCIS ended up calling us because we had to reschedule so many times and got us a date that we for sure could make it)

25 February 2013 got our fingerprinting done for USCIS

07 March 2013 I171H came in the mail

Dump truck love

Ian (3 1/2) picked a Christmas book for bedtime. Ian: "Is Jesus down there?"

Me: "Is Jesus where?"

Ian (points to my ear): "Down there?"

Me: "Are you asking me if Jesus is in my ear?"

Ian: "Yes."

Me (after I get a hold of myself): "No, but Jesus is in my heart."

Ian: "No he's not!!!"

Me: "When you say someone is in your heart, it means you love them and think about them."

Ian: "I have a dump truck in my heart."

Happy Easter!

I tried to get Claire to say that "Jesus died but on Easter he is alive" but we talked about Easter eggs in the same conversation so it came out, "Jesus is going to die/dye Easter eggs!" Oh well. Next year.
